The fact that the famous author Lucy Maud Montgomery taught in this country school in 1897-98 spurred its restoration and relocation to Central Bedeque where it is operated as part of the Bedeque Area Museum. Furnished as a nineteenth-century country school, there are displays on the history of education in the area, and on Montgomery’s life in Bedeque, where she fell in love with a young farmer Herman Leard, with whose family she was boarding.
