The Macphail family owned this Homestead from 1864-1961. The guide will tell you stories of the ten children raised here. One of them, Sir Andrew Macphail, was later the first professor of Medical History at McGill University. He also wrote 10 novels, including "The Master's Wife", a book about his childhood here, through it we have insight into what a child's life was like in the late 1850s. Our Veranda Café serves traditional lunches and desserts with fresh ingredients grown in our demonstration gardens. The Homestead is set on 200 acres of woodland with paths and a stream.
